About the role
The position will have a diverse range of responsibilties, with a focus particularly in relation to waterways facility and asset management, regulatory compliance, project management and land management, while working as part of a dynamic, multi-functioned team. There are opportunities for development with stakeholder and community engagement, as well as vessel and plant operations, including support in obtaining a Coxswain marine license. The ranger may have occasional direct responsibility for the supervision of casual staff, contractors and volunteers.
The Ranger will demonstrate a strong personal work ethic and actively participate in a team environment ensuring that the overall success of the team is considered to be an outcome of individual success. The Ranger will be adaptable and flexible to on the ground service requirements in order to ensure superior park and waterway management services are achieved at all times.
About the Team
The Waterways Unit is responsible for management of the navigable sections of the Yarra and Maribyrnong Rivers, which includes a variety of waterway and terrestrial assets and land parcels. As the designated Waterway Manager under the Marine Safety Act and Water Industry Act, Parks Victoria holds a broad range of responsibilities and powers relating to visitor management, asset management, litter management, on-water event management, and regulatory compliance activities.
