About the role
The patient Services Assistant (PSA) is responsible for ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained throughout all areas of the ward/ department, especially in patient areas. The PSA is an integral member of the hospital team, assisting and supporting the nursing and clinical staff, completing the five functions being Cleaning & Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Transport & Couriering, Ward Support and Patient Support.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain high standards of environmental cleaning and housekeeping across wards, patient areas, and general hospital spaces, ensuring infection control and hygiene requirements are met.
Support patient care by assisting with patient mobility, lifting, positioning, and transport within the hospital.
Provide ward support services including restocking supplies, managing linen and waste, checking equipment (e.g. oxygen cylinders), and maintaining ward readiness.
Assist with food and beverage services including meal delivery, food order checks, and replenishing pantry and refrigerator supplies.
Transport patients, equipment, specimens, and clinical items safely between wards and departments.
Contribute to a safe and collaborative environment by participating in emergency responses, following safety and information management policies, and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
