About the opportunity
We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Finance Business Partner who will play a key role in shaping financial insight, driving strategic decision‑making, and partnering with leaders across Energy Safe Victoria.
You will contribute by:
- Work with a Business Partnership model with relevant client groups and leaders, providing advice, support and guidance to apply a commercial mindset to operational and strategic decisions relating to all financial activities. Collaborating with Finance colleagues to ensure an integrated and consistent service delivery.
- Facilitate and support all financial activities such as budgeting and forecasting processes and maintain the levy model.
- Facilitate and support key annual financial projects like the annual budget process, monthly internal financial reporting, budget reporting to Department of Energy,Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), the Corporate Plan and related initiatives and ad-hoc reporting as required by the Finance Business Partnering Manager.
- Provide commercial analysis and insights on monthly financial results including variances against budgets and forecast to relevant client groups and leaders to assist with commercial decisions.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with relevant client groups, key internal stakeholders and customers to gain understanding of accounting practices and requirements.
- Report on financial health and advising on identified or emerging business issues and needs.
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance financial operations, systems, and reporting efficiency.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in finance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
- Other tasks as requested by Finance Business Partnering Manager.
To be successful, you'll have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce or Accounting.
- Chartered Accountant or Certified Practising Accountant.
- Significant experience in a similar position in a complex, professional environment, working in a small team.
- Demonstrated high-level experience in business planning, financial reporting, budget development and financial analysis.
- Well-developed excel skills including financial modelling and performing scenario analysis.
- Highly analytical and problem solving focussed.
- Demonstrated strong stakeholder management of internal and external customers.
- Highly developed communication skills (written & verbal), including report writing skills.
- Highly developed organisational and coordination skills, including the ability to prioritise workload with exceptional time management in a deadline driven environment.
- Displays core values and a commitment to assisting Energy Safe to live out its values.
- Proficiency with operating financial accounting packages.
- Experience in the public sector would be well regarded.
